Nicole Shine, MS, CPS
Executive Director

Nicole
Shine joined P.R.I.D.E. of Tuscaloosa staff as Prevention Director in August of 2019. Nicole has been in the prevention field for five years. She is a graduate of Stillman College and is a proud member of the Delta Sigma Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Nicole’s favorite quote says, “
Balance, peace, and joy are the fruit of a successful life. It starts with recognizing your talents and finding ways to serve others by using them.”- Thomas Kinkade 

Nicole truly believes that her talents are best served through her work in prevention and by helping youth become productive, and drug free adults.

Corlina Koranda, MA, APS
Prevention Director

Corlina joined P.R.I.D.E. of Tuscaloosa in August of 2020. She has a BA in Criminal Justice and a MA in Counseling and Educational Psychology from the University of South Dakota. Corlina has four children who all attend Tuscaloosa County Schools. She enjoys traveling the Southeast watching her children play sports, but admits she dreams of the day when they can take a vacation that
doesn’t include a ball and a field. Corlina also has a precious rescue pup named Buster.

Jon-Elyn Murphree, BS
Prevention Specialist

​Jon-Elyn started as an intern with P.R.I.D.E. in September of 2020 and then came on staff as a Prevention Specialist in January of 2021. She graduated with a BS in Addiction and Recovery from the University of Alabama in May of 2022, and is currently seeking a Master's at UA in Marriage and Family Therapy. She is passionate about serving her community and enjoys working with children. 

Dakota McAbee 
Prevention Specialist

Dakota started as a volunteer at P.R.I.D.E. in January 2021, and then joined as an employee in February 2021. She is an upcoming student at The University of Alabama and plans to study addiction prevention and drug education. She has lived in Tuscaloosa all her life and is very interested in keeping her hometown drug free and safe. Dakota loves animals and spending her free time creating art and taking care of her friends and family.

Latasha Taylor, BS
Prevention Specialist

Latasha joined P.R.I.D.E. in March 2022. She graduated from The University of Alabama in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Environmental Science and a minor in Addiction and Recovery. Latasha has worked in the field of prevention for 3 years and is very passionate about helping others through the services that are provided within the communities. She believes that if one person is helped, she has made a difference in the world. Latasha enjoys spending time with her son, bible journaling, and diamond painting.

Deonna Banks
Prevention Specialist

Deonna joined P.R.I.D.E. of Tuscaloosa as a prevention specialist in May of 2022. She is currently enrolled at Stillman College where she is seeking her Bachelor’s in Elementary Education. She volunteers around her community and customizes t-shirt’s in her free time. She enjoys reading and dancing.

Tiara Peoples, BS
Prevention Specialist

Tiara Peoples joined P.R.I.D.E in May of 2022. She received her Bachelor of Science for Public Health from Mississippi University for Women in 2018 and is also serving in the Air Force Reserve. She is passionate about being of service to others and encouraging people daily. During  her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, writing poetry, and singing. 

Jordan Scrivner, BS
Prevention Specialist

Jordan Scrivner joined P.R.I.D.E. of Tuscaloosa as a Prevention Specialist in June of 2022. Jordan graduated from The University of Alabama in May of 2022 with a Bachelors in Social Work. She is very passionate about working in the substance abuse field. Jordan is very down to earth and loves animals and spending time with the people she loves.
 



John Patterson III, BS
Prevention Specialist

John Patterson joined P.R.I.D.E of Tuscaloosa as a Substance Prevention Educator in June of 2022. John graduated from The University of Alabama in May of 2022 with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology. During his studies, he was involved in multiple community outreach initiatives in the Tuscaloosa County area, primarily with schools. He is also proud to be serving in the United States Air Force Reserve. John is passionate about serving the community he’s grown to love, while also inspiring the next generation with the sufficient knowledge to be their best. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with friends, exercising, or reading a good book. 

John’s favorite quote is by Ralph Emerson which says, “To be yourself in a world constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”
